Udhampur, August 29: Residents of Jail Road Ward No. 19 have been facing a serious mobile network problem for the past several years, causing considerable inconvenience to the people living in the locality. With poor or no mobile connectivity, residents are finding it difficult to communicate with their family members and others, while students are also facing difficulties in attending online classes and accessing educational resources.
The local residents stated that they had repeatedly brought the matter to the notice of the administration and concerned authorities, but no permanent solution had been provided so far. Due to the lack of network connectivity, people are often forced to move away from their homes to places where mobile signals are available just to make or receive phone calls.
Taking serious note of the long-pending issue, an administrative team today visited the locality and interacted with the residents to understand the problem in detail. The team recorded the grievances in writing and assured the locals that the matter would be brought to the notice of senior authorities and necessary steps would be taken for an early resolution.
The local residents also invited District Congress Committee (DCC) Udhampur President Sumeet Magotra to the spot and apprised him of the difficulties being faced by them.
Speaking to the concerned officials, Magotra said that it was unfortunate that residents of a locality situated in the heart of the city were being deprived of a basic necessity like mobile connectivity. He said that in today’s digital era, mobile network is not merely required for making phone calls, but is essential for education, business, online services and communication during emergencies.
Magotra pointed out that students in the locality are facing difficulties with online education, while family members have to leave their homes and travel to distant places simply to get a mobile signal and make a phone call.
He urged the administration and concerned telecom authorities to take immediate and effective measures to resolve the issue permanently and ensure reliable mobile network connectivity for the residents of Ward No. 19.
Magotra further warned that if the issue was not resolved at the earliest, he would be compelled to join the local residents in launching a public agitation in the interest of the people
