Honouring the Brave: Reasi Police Commemorates Fallen Heroes on Police Commemoration Day

REASI — In a deeply moving ceremony filled with pride, reverence, and gratitude, District Police Reasi observed Police Commemoration Day at the Martyrs’ Memorial inside the District Police Lines (DPL). The annual event brought together civil and police administration, community leaders, and the families of fallen bravehearts to pay homage to police personnel and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The day began with a solemn ceremonial parade featuring contingents from both the Jammu & Kashmir Police and paramilitary forces. A distinguished gathering paid floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, including Reasi MLA Kuldeep Dubey, SMVD Katra MLA Baldev Raj, Reasi Deputy Commissioner Kumar Abhishek, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukund Tibrewal, Commandant IRP 1st Battalion R.K. Katoch, Additional SP Katra Kameshwar Puri, Additional SP Reasi Iftikhar Ahmed, DySP Headquarters Reasi, and DySP DAR/DPL Reasi. They were joined by Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), paramilitary officers, prominent citizens, and local social activists, all uniting to honour the legacy of those who laid down their lives for public safety.

A pivotal moment of the observance occurred as SSP Mukund Tibrewal read out the Roll of Honour, solemnly reciting the names of 154 brave personnel from the police and paramilitary forces who fell in the line of duty over the past year. The quiet reading reverberated through DPL Reasi, offering a poignant reminder of the tremendous daily costs borne by security forces to safeguard the nation’s peace and security.

The atmosphere was rendered particularly emotional by the presence of the martyrs’ families. Carrying both profound grief and immense pride, family members placed wreaths at the memorial to honour their fallen loved ones. The gathering acknowledged that while the nation marks their valour on commemorative days, these resilient families carry the weight of that sacrifice every single day. As a tangible token of respect and gratitude, senior officers presented gifts to the grieving families.

Beyond the formal tributes, the event prioritized direct support and grievance redressal. Following the wreath-laying ceremony, SSP Tibrewal and senior officers engaged in a personal interaction with the Next of Kin (NoKs) of the martyrs. Officers listened attentively to their concerns, issuing immediate on-the-spot directions to resolve pressing administrative and logistical issues. The families were also updated on various welfare initiatives and financial benefits available to them through government programs. Reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the Jammu & Kashmir Police, SSP Tibrewal reassured the families that District Police Reasi stands firmly beside them as a lifelong support system.

The commemoration concluded with a collective pledge by all officers present to uphold the highest standards of courage, duty, and public service exemplified by the fallen heroes, ensuring their extraordinary sacrifices remain forever cherished in the national memory.
