Apni Party Senior Leader and Sonawari Constituency In-Charge Imtiyaz Parry has strongly criticised Sonawari MLA Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone over the continued deadlock on the Saderkoot Bala stone quarry issue, saying repeated committees have failed to provide a concrete solution to the affected people.Imtiyaz Parry referred to the seventh and final day of the Assembly session, when MLA Hilal Akbar Lone raised the quarry issue.
He said the Mining Department, in its response, stated that the material at Saderkoot falls under major minerals, with tests showing 49.34 per cent Magnesium Oxide, and maintained that the existing restrictions on extraction could not simply be lifted under the present framework.
Imtiyaz Parry said the situation requires serious consideration of SRO-105, calling for necessary amendments to address the livelihood concerns of local people. He alleged that the MLA had promised during the 2024 elections to resolve the issue but had failed to deliver a solution.“We are playing with the sentiments and emotions of the people of Saderkoot Bala.
They have waited long enough,” Parry said, adding that another committee would only prolong their uncertainty. He urged the MLA to take all stakeholders into confidence and play a decisive role in pursuing a legally sustainable solution.
