Major NCB Action in Jammu: Three Arrested with 5.160 kg Heroin; Cross-Border Network Suspected

JAMMU AUGUST 25 :- In a crackdown on the drug trade in Jammu and Kashmir, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claims to have busted a major heroin smuggling network. The agency seized 5.160 kilograms of heroin in Jammu and arrested three individuals, including the alleged mastermind of the gang. According to the NCB, this network may be linked to cross-border drug trafficking, and the investigation suggests potential connections extending to Pakistan.

According to the NCB, a suspicious vehicle was intercepted and searched in the Panjtirthi area of Jammu on August 22. Two accused were arrested after heroin was recovered during the search. Based on information obtained during interrogation and further investigation, the agency intensified its search for the alleged mastermind, who was subsequently arrested in Leh on August 24.

Preliminary investigations by the agency suggest that the seized heroin consignment may have originated in Pakistan and entered Indian territory via the Uri sector. However, the NCB has not yet conclusively confirmed this suspicion. The agency is now working to determine the source of the consignment, identify the network that received it in India, and ascertain how many individuals are involved.

The NCB’s investigation is now focused on piecing together the links of the entire smuggling network. Information regarding the potential network—spanning from across the border to Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country—is being gathered through the interrogation of the arrested individuals. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to trace the actual origin of the seized heroin and its supply chain. The possibility of further arrests in the case cannot be ruled out.
