Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Unit Nowgam, Sonawari, on Friday held a press conference and strongly criticised Sonawari MLA Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone, urging him to focus on resolving the pressing issues faced by the people of Nowgam instead of inaugurating works that, according to the party, were initiated earlier.
Addressing the media, the PDP Nowgam Unit said that several basic public issues in the area continue to affect the daily lives of residents, particularly the shortage of clean drinking water. The party members referred to the recent statement of the Sonawari MLA that around 80 percent of the work related to the drinking water issue had been completed.
Reacting to the claim, the PDP unit said that it was unfortunate that even in the present era, when people across the world are demanding better living standards and cleaner environments, residents of Nowgam Sonawari continue to face difficulties in accessing safe and clean drinking water.PDP leaders also raised concerns over the condition of drainage systems in the area, stating that inadequate drainage infrastructure has added to the problems being faced by the local population.
They further highlighted issues at the local health facility, alleging that the NTPHC continues to face deficiencies related to staff and essential facilities. The PDP Nowgam Unit urged MLA Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone to give priority to these unresolved public concerns and take concrete measures to address them.
The party said that instead of focusing primarily on inaugurations of previously initiated works, attention should be directed towards starting and completing projects that directly address the immediate needs of the people. The PDP unit also raised the demand for opening a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Naogam, stating that the facility would provide significant relief to residents who currently face difficulties in accessing banking services.
