Poonch August 26 : Heart-wrenching news has emerged from the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, where five people—including a woman—lost their lives and four others were critically injured in a horrific road accident on Wednesday evening in the Shindra area of Surankote tehsil. According to reports, the occupants were traveling in a private vehicle (JK20A 8702) to attend a private function. As the vehicle reached a sharp, difficult bend in the Shindra area, it suddenly went out of control. Preliminary reports suggest a sudden technical malfunction caused the driver to lose balance; the speeding vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.
The crash was so severe that the vehicle was mangled upon impact, and the scene was filled with screams. Hearing the sound of the accident, local villagers rushed to help and initiated rescue operations despite the challenging conditions. After a strenuous effort, the villagers extricated the critically injured victims trapped in the wreckage. They were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared five people—including the woman—dead. Meanwhile, emergency treatment has commenced for the four survivors. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
